They seal a section of tracks in Bellissens after a neighborhood alert
Firefighters, the Guàrdia Urbana and the URV have sealed off the surroundings of a section of the railway line in the Bellissens area. In detail, the area between calle León XIII and avenida de Josep Pla has been fenced off on the inside, which leads directly to the Campus Bellissens car park. The I de Mayo Neighborhood Association of Mas Pellicer, through its president, Eduardo Navas, warned over the weekend that "the wall that follows the tracks had given way and looked very deteriorated."
Firefighters went the same Saturday to carry out a first inspection and placed, for prevention, the seal, as indicated by sources from the body. In turn, the Guàrdia Urbana identified "a detachment from the fall of the wall" at the site, the City Council specifies, which maintains that "according to Bombers, it does not present a danger, but the URV has been informed." The consistory transferred the situation to Adif.
For their part, URV sources specify that they have been informed in this regard but that Adif, the owner of the wall, should be responsible for the repairs. For now, the URV has cordoned off the area as a precaution, in case it just collapsed.
Finally, Adif specifies that "it is a wall that is on the side of the road and our technicians do not see imminent danger." Despite everything, "we will replace 90 meters of wall in the next few days, in one or two weeks," they add. Next to the fenced part is one of the passage tunnels between the Mas Iglesias area and the Campus and Hospital complex. The circulation of people and trains through that passage has not stopped because it would not be at risk.
The president of I de Maig, Eduardo Navas, explains that "it can be seen that part of the wall has expired." Navas fears "that it has just given way, because the vibrations of the train passing along the track will probably generate movement, and it will fall on someone." The neighborhood leader recalls that near that point "the Bellissens halt will go and that the City Council has planned a city pass, while the wall that we now have is falling down." And he asks to "update what already exists before doing more".
