The Ribera de Ebro Clocha Festival moves to November

The Fiesta de la Clocha de la Ribera de Ebro moves this year from the first fortnight of March to the month of November. Specifically, it will take place on Sunday, November 6, outside the Móra la Nova fair pavilion. It is a very popular festive day in the region, where this typical peasant dish is the protagonist.

The 17th edition of the Fiesta de la Clocha, organized by the Ribera Regional Council, will thus return after the two-year stoppage due to the Covid pandemic. In addition, the municipality of Móra la Nova will again experience this gastronomic day of reference in the territory, once the festival has already visited all the towns of Ribera d'Ebre. And it is that it was in Móra la Nova where the first edition of the contest was held in 2003.

“This year will be different because we normally have the party in March. It has been considered moving it to these dates to deseasonalize tourism, since in February and March we have the flowering of fruit trees and the influx is gradually greater. We encourage everyone to come and discover the heritage of Ribera d'Ebre. There is no better pairing than uniting heritage, culture and restaurants with local products", expressed the president of the Ribera de Ebro Regional Council, Gemma Carim, noting that Ribera de Ebro can be enjoyed like this throughout the year with the different proposals, such as the flowering of the fruit trees in spring and the EbreLumen, the festival of videomapping and Natura, or navigation on the Ebro river during the summer.

"It is a luxury to return to normality after the pandemic and even better to do it with the Fiesta de la Clocha", the mayor of Móra la Nova, Francesc Xavier Moliné, has assessed. A municipality that has a tradition when it comes to making mussels, such as during its renowned Intercomarcal Oil Fair.

Giants and grallers will kick off the day, which will close with a concert by the group Es cosa de tres. This year the Clotxa Festival will coincide with the Train Festival to be held on November 5 and 6 at the Móra la Nova Railway Museum.

The Clocha Festival will also mark the start of the Gastronomic Days (until December 4), where twelve restaurants in the region incorporate this traditional peasant recipe so deeply rooted in the territory into their menus and cards, both in its original version and adapted .
