The Creixell Local Police 'resurrects' a neighbor
The defibrillator of the brand new car of the Creixell Local Police, recently arrived at the police force, could not have had a better start this Monday afternoon. Thanks to his availability, a neighbor of Creixell is still alive. This afternoon, already admitted to the Joan XXIII hospital in Tarragona, he continues with a reserved prognosis, recovering from a possible heart attack.
The story with a happy ending began with a call to the local police station shortly after 2:00 p.m. A man was passed out inside his car.
Immediately, a Local Police patrol shot out towards Mossèn Jacint Verdaguer street, where the car was parked with the driver inside.
The agents got into the police car that carries a defibrillator among its items. In a few minutes they reached the patient and verified that he was passed out, without a pulse and the color of the skin of his face was beginning to turn purple.
With the help of a neighbor, the driver was extracted from the car and laid on the ground. Some relatives of the patient also approached when they heard the news.
The man, already lying down, had his shirt opened and CPR (Cardiovascular Recovery) was performed on him, accompanied by two discharges from the defibrillator of the police car, which kept him hopeful while the SEM arrived, notified in parallel to the practice of the first aid.
Three ambulances arrived minutes after 3:00 p.m. at Mossèn Jacint Verdaguer street and the health technicians took over from the two agents, who did not stop performing resuscitation in the hope of recovering the patient's pulse.
Soon, the heart began to beat again in the patient's body and with it a sigh of joy shared among all those present, especially family members who were very nervous when they saw that they could lose a loved one.
After stabilizing the sick neighbor and lifting him on a stretcher to the SEM ambulance, he was referred to the Joan XXIII hospital in Tarragona, where he is in bed recovering from a probable heart attack.
