The 25th edition of the Ebreokasió de Tortosa fair starts

The Tortosa second-hand vehicle fair reaches its twenty-fifth edition this weekend at the Remolins Pavilion. Throughout the weekend, more than 300 vehicles will be exhibited, with the novelty of the expansion of the area for sectors such as motorhomes, driving schools or cleaning products for vehicles.

Throughout 7,000 m2, both inside and outside, it will be possible to see second-hand, management or zero-mile vehicles and more than twenty brands will participate. Sisco Pepió, Councilor for Fairs and Economic Promotion, celebrates the holding of the event, which has not been held since 2019 due to the pandemic, and its impact on the sector.

"It is a very good opportunity, in a venue such as the fairground, to be able to see all this wide range of vehicles that the dealers make available to visitors", the councilor pointed out, encouraging both the people of Tortosa and the surroundings to visit the fair and the city, which also hosts the Tortosa de Tapas. "It is a good time to come and enjoy the tapas offered by our gastronomic sector and, at the same time, be able to come here to visit the fairgrounds, see if there is something that might interest you and enjoy these complementary activities."

Also new, in addition to the exhibition of vehicles for sale, the fair has a recreational and gastronomic space, with food trucks, a go-kart track and inflatables.

Increase in demand

The 25th edition of the fair is being held at a time when interest in buying used vehicles is on the rise in Catalonia due to the lack of materials and the shortage of components due to the war in Ukraine and transport problems. These have caused the lengthening of the waiting lists, which had not yet been fully normalized due to the effects of the pandemic.

Thus, sales of second-hand vehicles in Catalonia have skyrocketed, especially those over ten years old, and already, out of every four vehicles purchased, three are second-hand, management or kilometer zero.

In the case of the province of Tarragona, according to FECAVEM, the demand for these cars during the past year was 78.83% of the total and this year the data is already quite close. A few weeks before the end of the year, this demand stood at 77.66%, representing some 31,897 used vehicles compared to 9,175 new ones throughout the province. Only during the month of October, this was already about 25,424 vehicles.
