Mont-roig will invest 757,000 euros in a new sports pavilion

The urban projects of Mont-roig del Camp do not stop growing. If a few weeks ago we announced the construction of a new sports complex with a budget of 2.2 million euros, now the City Council has announced the construction of a pavilion next to the Mare de Déu de la Roca school.

The project, which has recently been put out to tender, has a budget of 757,303.89 euros, VAT included, and a 9-month execution period for the works. According to sources from the City Council, once tendered, it is expected to start work within a maximum of three months and that the pavilion will be fully operational by the end of 2023.

The construction of this new facility responds to the need, according to the Council, to "decongest the volume of users served by the existing pavilion." For this reason, the executive clauses of the project provide that «the building will be used mainly for sports practice. In addition, it is planned to host activities and neighborhood parties”, so that the population is offered a multipurpose space that can be used for both sports and social use seven days a week. As for the sports aspect, the building will have a mini-basketball court, two badminton courts and a mini-volleyball court.

redevelop the area

The new facility will be located at the southern end of a 13,8931 m2 plot located next to the aforementioned school. This side is bordering the Colldejou road. Currently on the north side of this land there are several isolated buildings and leisure areas, soccer and basketball courts and an internal access road for vehicles.

The basic and executive project also provides for the redevelopment of the area around the land. In this sense, the document contemplates doing it in two differentiated phases. The first includes both direct access to the pavilion and the paving of the streets that surround it to the north and west. As for the second phase, it focuses on rearranging the surroundings of the building, as well as access to the Town Hall of the municipality.

€2.2M for a new sports complex

The Mont-roiga City Council approved a budget item of 2.2 million euros to build a new sports and leisure complex that will be located in the current sports area and whose works are expected to start in February. Apart from redeveloping the entire area, a skatepark, an outdoor gym area, a children's play area and a square for various activities will be built. In addition, the project provides for a relocation of the pool, which will also change its design, and will house the new Casal d'Avis, with a 200 m2 multipurpose room.

To carry out this project, a participatory process was launched with the schools, institutes, sports entities and young people of the municipality.

The Consistory wants the new building to be a multipurpose sports and social space
