Mont-roig celebrates the 18 million euros of European funds for South Korean investment

The Town Hall of Mont-roig (Baix Camp) celebrates the 18.2 million euros of European funds that the South Korean company Iljin will receive to establish itself in the municipality.

From the Asian country, the Minister of Industry, Reyes Maroto, has confirmed this Thursday this amount, included in the resolution of the PERTE of Seat Volkswagen.

From the Tarragona town hall they ensure that the project is advancing with the administrative procedures prior to the construction of the announced factories. In addition, they point out that these grants certify "even more" the company's investment, which they consider "will be key" in the industrialization of the population and the Camp de Tarragona as a whole.

The South Korean company Iljin, which will manufacture electric battery components from 2025, was part of the group of companies of the Seat Volkswagen tractor project (Perte), which has raised nearly 400 million euros to promote the transition to electric vehicles in Spain and promote the reconversion of the automobile sector.

Currently, the Mont-roig City Council is waiting to receive the Partial Plan that provides for the urbanization and construction of Els Comellarets, the most important industrial zone in the municipality, which will be used exclusively for the project.

In May, the South Korean company announced an investment of 600 million euros and the creation of 500 jobsthis factory being the first of the group to be built in Europe.
