The Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, has announced, in an informative breakfast, that, from today, Renfe offers free on all its trains for the citizens of Ukraine who arrive in Spain and wish to travel to any point in the national territory, as well as for those who wish to go to France.
For the management of all movements of Ukrainian immigrants, the company will organize all its operations in Barcelona, which is set up as a ‘hub’ or connection center to receive refugees arriving in Spain or for the departure of citizens to France and subsequently to other parts of Europe. Elipsos cross-border trains arrive at this terminal (commercial name of the Renfe-SNCF in Cooperation company), that communicate France with Spain and that are also free for Ukrainian refugees.
Once in Barcelona, the refugees can take any train on the transport network and continue their journey. In order to benefit from free trains, Ukrainian citizens who wish to do so must carry a passport or identity document and present it at Renfe points of sale, at service centers or at station ticket offices.
