The Senderista and Solidarity March of Mequinenza will once again be held for the benefit of the AECC on March 27

The XIV Walking March of the Villa de Mequinenza returns on March 27, after two years of hiatus due to the covid-19 pandemic. All proceeds from the event will go to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC).

In the 2019 edition, the last one held before the pandemic, 4,000 euros were raised, which corresponds to the full amount of the registrations that were made. From the Mequinenza City Council they have indicated, through a press release, that the objective is to be able to exceed these figures in 2022, despite the circumstances, to actively collaborate in the fight against cancer.

The main novelty of this year, which will be carried out under the slogan ‘hiking and solidarity’, is that the organization recovers the option of running the route. In addition, the initiative offers three aid stations, depending on the route chosen, and maintains its three routes: Dorsal ‘0’, four kilometers long; short, twelve kilometers; and long, 19 kilometers.

The registration fee will be ten euros, with a discount of three euros for those federated with a license from the Aragonese Mountain Federation, and includes snacks for the participants at the end of the tour and thus facilitate the return to their places of origin.

The XIV Villa de Mequinenza Hiking and Solidarity March will begin at 8:00 a.m., from the Capri Nautical Club grounds, with the corresponding maximum time limits depending on the route. There, the participants will begin the journey towards Poble Vell, until they reach the Mequinenza Museums, a point at which the route will differentiate the different routes.

From there, those who make the short route will start the return; while those of the long one will continue towards the Vescrí departure and the irrigation pond of the APAC Regates Community, to return to the museums, where the three alternatives will join to go to the starting point through the so-called ‘Portal’ area.

In addition, the organization has planned a small breakfast to start the tours with the necessary forces, a commemorative gift for all the participants, a 50 percent discount on the price of tickets to visit the Mequinenza Museums and snacks at the end of the tour.

Those interested in participating can confirm their attendance until March 23. Registration and payment can be completed through the internet, on the website ‘www.mequinenza.es’, or in the traditional way, filling out the registration form and sending it, together with proof of payment, by fax to the number ‘ 974 465 053’ or to the following email: ‘senderista@mequinensa.com’.
